Whoa. This is good, honest food. Perfect lunch, homemade everything. What a blessing to West Branch! Real talent in the kitchen. Had the quiche, but would have loved to try everything on the small, everchanging menu. I'll be back, for sure!

Charming shop, dry good coffee. And crazy good cookies!

Great coffee, mostly daily specials with soup, sandwiches, flatbred pizzas. Right next to Main Street Sweets. Stop there for breakfast or lunch, they close around 3 pm.

Lovely place. I had the roast beef sandwich and it was perfect. Husband has the chicken and he actually said he liked it!

Well that was an experience! My dog had an early morning appointment at The Grooming Station, one block down from Reid's Beans, so I hopped into this quaint little cafe to get some work done. The ordering system when I first walked in was a bit confusing - it was unclear whether I was supposed to wait to be seated or order at the counter. I ordered a cappuccino and cinnamon roll. Neither of which were delicious - the cappuccino least of all. I'm not sure what happened, I can only assume that the espresso beans were old and that the espresso machine had not been tuned that morning... or in several months for that matter and the milk wasn't as frothed as it was bubbled - the milk had been steamed to resemble those huge bubbles after a kid blows bubbles through her straw, instead of tiny beady bubbles you only see if you look closely at a hot cup of cappuccino. Needless to say, I tried my hardest to drink my cappuccino because the owner was just so darn nice, but I couldn't get more than half of it down. The cinnamon roll was okay, though not the "oh my gawd please give me your recipe" delicious I was expecting. So my takeaway is that perhaps the drip coffee and breakfast/lunch menus are where it's at. The best part of my morning at Reid's Beans though, was simply soaking up the atmosphere I had stumbled into. Because this isn't a trendy cafe you go to for a world-class pull of espresso. Nope, this is the cafe where the local folk meet up to tell each other about their grandkids and to give each other a hard time about getting old. And it's where the community stops to have breakfast with their friends before work, or to pop in and say hi to their neighbors. The commonality they all share though, is that everyone knows the owner and the owner knows everyone. All in all if I were strictly reviewing the quality of the cappuccino and cinnamon roll, there would be far fewer stars. But because it's clear to me now that this cafe is a West Branch staple thanks to the jovial cliental, cozy home-esque atmosphere, and because the owner treats everyone like family, the sub-par cappuccino doesn't leave quite as bad of a taste in my mouth as I thought it would after the first sip.

Not recommended for espresso or iced coffee drinks; very pretentious staff and poor assembling of the drinks we had. We ordered an iced coffee with chocolate syrup and a double shot white mocha with a splash of cinnamon syrup and steamed almond milk. The iced coffee was gritty with grounds and over flavored, the latte tasted so much of cinnamon that I had to ask for more almond milk to cut the cinnamon taste and make it more bearable and drinkable, and there seemed to be no white chocolate flavor at all. It was an espresso drink, yes, I will give them that; but there was nothing special about either of the drinks. The decor was nice though, very small-town bumpkin feel. Overall there was nothing that I found to be overly special about the shop or worth getting off I-80 for. I may try them again if I'm passing through but at this moment I give them an "Meh" and wouldn't send anyone their way.

Really cool laid back atmosphere! If you're passing through town and want something besides fast food this is the place to go. Fresh and organic spoooooo good and at a good price!!! I will be back.

Happened to see a sign on the interstate for this place and stopped in for a cup of coffee. To my delight, I discovered that they also served breakfast. I had a vegetarian omelet that was served with house cut potatoes and fresh fruit. The omelet was packed full of delicious vegetables and mushrooms and the fruit was fresh and worth eating (not just a decoration). The eggs were fresh from a nearby farmer. This place is a neighborhood joint that also serves folks passing through and is right around the corner from the Hoover Presidential Library. The owner's are a husband and wife team with Laura in charge of service and the register and Jonathan as the chef. I spoke with Laura for a bit and she's a well traveled and very friendly person. I definitely recommend stopping in here for some good food, especially if you've been traveling and need some nutritious food.

Easily the best food you will find in West Branch and it is worth a trip just to get a cookie (Please don't eat all the molasses and ginger cookies; save some for me!). All of the food is fresh and delicious, prepared and served by conscientious owners who take the time and attention to do it the right way. NOT what you would expect to find in a small town. Everything is delicious; you may consider licking the plate when you are done and you would not be the first person to do so, but people might still look at you funny.

We stopped on a road trip on I-80 for a some coffee and muffins. The food and coffee were both fantastic! And the people that work there were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it if you're driving through town.

Wow. This place is as good as it gets. I respect a small-town establishment that works hard to bring big city quality to their menu. The Crab cakes were as good or better than any I have had in Chicago over the past 3 years. If you are a student at Iowa, and you are reading this, take a drive on a Sunday or Saturday afternoon, bring your laptop and headphones, and lose yourself in your work. You'll be happy you did. Coffee was good too. Big thanks to the owners for letting me crush out some conference calls a few weeks back. Herbert Hoover and his smart wife would be proud of Reid's Beans.

My shredded pork sandwich was really good. Vegetables and macaroni salad were wonderful. 35 to 40 minutes to serve us 3 sandwiches was a long time. You might plan to arrive well before noon for lunch; we arrived at 12:03.

Get thee to this place for lunch. I went here several times during a research trip, and it's a great place. The cappuccinos are stellar (almost as good as you can get in the best local places in the Bay, NYC, Princeton NJ ---yeah, I'm talking to you Small World Coffee peeps!, etc.), and the lunches are made by a guy who used to work in the Bay (and his wife hey L, what's up! It's Kevin from this past, uh, what was it, October?). Very good sandwiches, healthy, flavorful, and well portioned. With good sides, like cole slaw you want to finish ALL the way to the bottom, without feeling like you're swimming in mayo. And great affordable prices. Food this good should be twice as much. Pulled BBQ pork sandwiches, BLT's, grilled chicken sandwiches, you get the picture... I gotta write more about this place, but you get the idea...it's worth even a stop in West Branch for it...shhhh, its best kept secret apart from the Herbert Hoover Library...

We are a group of hungry and very health and food conscious teachers and administrators from Scattergood Friends School and Farm ( another best kept secret located in West Branch!) and often visit Reid's Beans for the witty conversation , great coffee, apps, lunches. We often book Reid's for larger events and need to get to those monthly dinners more often! Fabulous culinary expertise.

We snuck in just before the turn of the sign and it was great! Only open for breakfast and lunch. We both had the quiche special (side salad). Real men do eat quiche, especially the quiche that is served here.
